Karachi (May-09-2025) The Chairman of National Business Group Pakistan, the President of the Pakistan Businessmen and Intellectuals Forum, the President of All Karachi Industrial Alliance, the Chairman of the FPCCI
Advisory Board, and the President and former provincial minister, Mian Zahid Hussain, on Friday emphasised the vital importance of a strategic approach to national defence and security for ensuring survival.
He said that Pakistan faces a highly cunning and deceptive enemy whose military power and the economy is significantly larger than Pakistan's. It also enjoys support from powerful international allies.
Mian Zahid Hussain stated that despite its economic superiority, India continues to face defeats at the hands of Pakistan's military, air force, media, and cyber security experts, compelling it to depend on false narratives.
Talking to the business community, the veteran business leader stated that Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi's schemes have backfired, and his deceit is leading to his downfall.
Mian Zahid Hussain said the deceiving enemy initially launched a false flag operation in Pulwama, followed by war propaganda against Pakistan, missile attacks, and drone incursions, all of which have provided Pakistan with the moral and strategic right to retaliate.
He stated that these reckless actions have made India increasingly isolated and insecure, negatively affecting its air travel, tourism, and foreign investment, which have severe repercussions for its economy and growth.
The business leader added that it would be a significant strategic victory for Pakistan if, instead of launching direct attacks, it maintained pressure by keeping India under constant fear of retaliation. Such a strategy could economically weaken India without a war, showcasing Pakistan's strategic acumen and strength.
Mian Zahid Hussain emphasised that emotional slogans or statements alone cannot ensure national security. He stressed the need for a strong, organized, well-prepared nation to defend its freedom at any cost. This emphasis on readiness promotes proactive measures for national security.
In this context, he said, not only is an increase in the defence budget necessary, but compulsory military training has also become a vital need of the hour. He stated that India is Pakistan's perpetual adversary, driven by a conspiratorial mind set and ambitions for regional dominance.
Under Narendra Modi's aggressive regime, India has revoked Kashmir's constitutional status, normalised the oppression of Muslims and other minorities, and adopted policies of hatred against Pakistan. However, many of these diplomatic moves have failed on the international stage.
Given these developments, he emphasised that achieving national unity and modernising military capabilities is crucial and urgent.

He suggested introducing mandatory military training in schools and universities to instil discipline, patriotism, and physical fitness in young people and equip them to actively support national defence if necessary.
He noted that many developed nations have integrated compulsory military training into their education systems, thereby enhancing national defence.
Mian Zahid Hussain further suggested incorporating military training, cyber security, warfare strategy, and civil defence into school and university curricula in Pakistan, describing it as a timely and critical need.
He said that protecting freedom, a strong economy, an invincible defence, compulsory military training, and national unity should be the pillars of Pakistan's security.
Increasing the defence budget is not just a national necessity but a matter of national survival. Ignoring it would be akin to national suicide.
To ensure our nation's security, significant resources must be allocated for modern weaponry, military exercises, intelligence systems, and technological advancements.
He emphasised that defence spending is not an expense but a vital investment in the country's survival and sovereignty.
