MOSCOW : Citizens were stunned to see four moons in the sky at once. Photos and videos of this scene went viral on social media. According to details, people in the city of St. Petersburg, Russia, saw a rare and amazing natural scene, in which it seemed as if four moons were shining in the sky. Experts said that this phenomenon is called paraselena, which creates many images of the moon due to icy crystals in the atmosphere. Paraselena is actually an optical illusion, in which moonlight passes through hexagonal ice crystals in high clouds and creates bright spots on either side of the moon, giving the impression of multiple moons. The phenomenon is usually seen at an angle of 22 degrees and is most pronounced when the moon is close to the horizon. According to experts, the intensity and shape of the light varies depending on the size and orientation of the crystals, and larger crystals produce taller and clearer pillars of light, making the scene even more dramatic. Citizens of St. Petersburg were stunned to see this rare sight, and photos and videos of it went viral on social media.
