The pre-wedding festivities of Anant Ambani in India were a lavish display of wealth, but it was the mother of the groom-to-be who stole the spotlight.
Amongst a gathering of A-list celebrities, billionaires, and the elite, Anant, the youngest son of Nita and Mukesh Ambani, celebrated his upcoming nuptials with fiancée Radhika Merchant in grand style. Mukesh Ambani, Asia’s wealthiest individual with a net worth of approximately $114 billion, according to Bloomberg’s Billionaire Index, spared no expense for the extravagant three-day affair.
The opulent events, including a private performance by Rihanna and a communal dinner serving 51,000 people, garnered international attention. However, less discussed were the extravagant jewels adorning Nita’s ensemble.
Creative director Manish Malhotra, renowned fashion designer, showcased Nita’s attire in Instagram photos from the third night of celebrations. While the focus was on her shimmering gold sari, it was impossible to overlook the stunning necklace gracing her neck. Adorned with diamonds and emeralds, with two large stones as its centerpiece, the necklace’s value was estimated by outlets like GQ India and Harper’s Bazaar India to be around 500 crores, or approximately $60 million.
Nita also sported a significant ring on her left hand, known as the Mirror of Paradise. This 52.58-carat diamond ring was auctioned by Christie’s in June 2019 for $6.5 million, as part of the Maharajas & Mughal Magnificence collection.
Nita’s penchant for luxurious accessories is evident, with reports indicating she previously wore the Mirror of Paradise ring to the opening of the Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre in Mumbai in April 2023.
During a speech at the festivities, Anant expressed heartfelt gratitude to his mother for orchestrating the extravagant celebration.
“All this is created by my mother and no one else, and my mother has gone all out for the last four months,” Anant remarked. “She’s worked for, I think, 18, 19 hours a day, and I’m extremely grateful to Mama. Thank you so much.”
