KARACHI: We joins the international community in celebrating the “International Day of United Nations Peacekeepers” today. It’s a day to remember and thank those who have done so much to defend human rights and protect the peace around the world. Ambassador at Large for Global Peace, Human Rights & Interfaith Harmony Imam Allama Muhammad Ahsan Siddiqui Chairman, Interfaith Commission for Peace & Harmony (ICPH) extended his deepest respect and appreciation to all the peacekeepers deployed around the world. He paid the highest tribute to more than 4,000 UN peacekeepers who gave their lives to the cause of peace.

He said that peace is backbone of any country development, and progress. Peace at home, peace at world. Every day, United Nations peacekeepers work to protect hundreds of thousands of vulnerable people in the world’s most fragile political and security situations. The International Day of UN Peacekeepers on 29 May is an opportunity to recognize the service and sacrifice of the more than one million personnel who have served under the blue flag since 1948. It is also a chance to honour the memory of the more than 4,000 peacekeepers who lost their lives in the cause of peace. This year, the United Nations will mark the occasion under the theme, “Peace begins with me”. He said that Pakistan’s commitment with the UN peacekeeping stems from the vision of its founding fathers. Ever since Pakistan became a part of the United Nations peacekeeping mission, Pakistani peacekeepers have left no stone unturned in the noble cause of helping , working with reputation, love, help prevent conflict, protect civilians, advance political solutions, promote human rights, support democratic processes, achievement and success in the service of world humanity, facing trauma, conflict, fear, natural disasters, adverse environment, risking their lives , building peace and bringing stability across the regions under the banner of United Nations. Pakistani peacekeeping forces are playing an important role in accomplishing the mission of the United Nations peacekeeping forces with great skill and dedication.
The Ambassador at Large for Global Peace, Human Rights & Interfaith Harmony Imam Allama Muhammad Ahsan Siddiqui Chairman, Interfaith Commission for Peace & Harmony (ICPH) said the Pakistan Army has played its role for peace in the whole world and has made many sacrifices. We are proud of our Pakistan Army. Our special tribute goes out to the Pakistan Army serving humanity for the noble cause of peace. During UN peacekeeping missions, 171 Pakistani Peacekeepers, including 27 officers, have sacrificed their precious lives for the restoration of peace at the global level. He said that today on UN Peacekeepers day we thank all men and women working in UN peacekeeping for their indispensable work and their courage. We are proud of our Pakistani peacekeepers and their colleagues around the world.
Global Peace Ambassador, Human Rights Allama Muhammad Ahsan Siddiqui said The General Assembly, in its resolution 57/129, designated 29 May as the International Day of United Nations Peacekeepers. UN Secretary-General António Guterres and other UN offices had lauded and acknowledged the contributions and sacrifices of Pakistan’s peacekeepers, he said, adding that during 1960 to 2023, the officers and Jawans of Pakistan peacekeepers had played an exemplary and praiseworthy role in the UN missions. On Sunday, the UN Peacekeeping also thanked all those who work with us in the pursuit of peace, including other UN entities, humanitarians, the communities we serve, women and youth, media, academia, traditional and faith-based leaders, host governments, Troop and Police Contributing Countries, Member States, and many others.
He said that a moment to pay tribute to the service and sacrifice of all men and women from across different continents and countries and religious and cultural backgrounds who have and currently serve in frontlines to overcome conflict and promote peace and development. We salute who help maintain Peace, courage and dedication of the brave men and women who carry out UN Peacekeeping around the world. The Chairman, Interfaith Commission for Peace & Harmony (ICPH) said that we’ll all continue working together to bring peace to all. Let’s recognize those who have served to promote peace, restore stability and protect those in need. We thank you peacekeepers and their families.
