World Health Organization’s Country Head Dr. Palitha Mahipala says that it is welcome that not a single case of polio was reported in Pakistan last year.
According to international media, Dr. Palitha Mahipala on the occasion of the inauguration of the polio campaign by giving polio vaccine to children in Cantonment General Hospital Rawalpindi said that we want to see Pakistan as a polio-free country.
He said that Pakistan has taken significant steps to eradicate polio, not a single case of polio was reported in Pakistan last year which is a good thing.
He paid tribute to the front-line polio workers and appealed to the parents to vaccinate their children against polio and cooperate with our teams.
Dr. Palitha Mahipala further said that we want to see Pakistan as a polio-free country and hoped that this year’s polio campaign would be a prelude to Pakistan getting rid of polio.
It may be recalled that the first polio campaign has been launched in Pakistan in the year 2022. During this campaign, children below the age of five years will be vaccinated against polio.
