Karachi : The afternoon of 20th april was selected to honour those women artists that need to be promoted for their dedication to Art.
The venue selected was Sambara Art gallery near Liaqat Hospital in karachi
There were above 50 artists who participated and 6 of the girls got awards out of them . Fatima Arzoo Hassan was among the receipient of the award.
Shahzad Khatri along with Razia Sheikh initiated the one day event.
The room was filled with some Sind government officials , senior artists and gallery owners.
Mehreen Ilahi Ceo of Majmua the Art gallery spoke on the occassion and welcomed the showcasing of work even in her gallery and gave the young emerging artists encouragement. A senior government official bought the work of an artist who had painted a woman from Palestine and a beautiful sure with it.
She also won the prize.
Senior artists like Shaheen Mussawir Tariq Tonki, Syed Alishah were also present and participated in giving sheifs or re eiving Ajrak from the goverment officials et. Ms.Mehreen Ilahi also received a recognition sheild for her services to Art. Her mother who had come to see her grand daughter receive an award was given a sindhi ajrak
Farhan Awan of Easel art gallery also attended the event and showcased two paintings of his daughter. They were remarkable pieces of art, quite conceptual.
All in all it was a wonderful and quite memorable event.
