PAKISTAN—KARACHI: World Refugee Day honours refugees around the world who have been forced from their homes, families, communities, and nation to escape war, violence, and persecution in their home country. This year’s theme is “Hope away from home”. World Refugee Day by paying tribute to the resilience and courage of people who are displaced due to conflict or persecution across the world. Interfaith Commission for Peace & Harmony (ICPH), Albaraka Welfare Trust International and Masterpeace Pakistan celebrated World Refugee Day and shows solidarity with the refugees living in Pakistan. World refugee day is also an occasion to mobilize sympathy and acknowledge their resolve to rebuild their lives staff, and many refugees joined ICPH in marking World Refugee Day. He said that this day is a yearly reminder of the importance of peace, prevention and resolution of conflicts that are the main reasons for forced displacement of millions of people from their homes. Ambassador at Large for Global Peace & Human Rights Imam Allama Muhammad Ahsan Siddiqui, Chairman Interfaith Commission for Peace & Harmony (ICPH) said that today on the occasion of World Refugee Day, we express our sympathy, support and solidarity with the world’s homeless and stateless persons who now number 68 million. Pakistan has the distinction of having hosted the largest refugee population for the longest duration in history. We joins the international community in commemorating. It is an occasion to reiterate our collective resolve for refugee protection under the principle of international burden and responsibility sharing.
Global Peace & Human Rights Ambassador said that proud our ICPH SDGs Ambassadors and Advocates, it is our responsibility to raise awareness and knowledge of the SDGs throughout our communities, organisations, and businesses. We took the opportunity to discuss everywhere the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals into all aspects of our work. There are around 2.8 million recognized and unrecognized Afghan refugees in Pakistan and refugees over several years and continues to do so, we have given them a home within our motherland. In the spirit of humanism and in line with Pakistan’s historical tradition of hosting refugees, for which there is rightful international recognition.
Chairman Interfaith Commission for Peace & Harmony (ICPH) Imam Allama Muhammad Ahsan Siddiqui said that Pakistan’s hosting of refugees in vast numbers has been exemplary and far beyond its resources. It continues to host Afghan refugees despite loss of interest by the world community. Over the past forty years, the people of Pakistan have demonstrated exemplary generosity, solidarity and compassion in hosting millions of Afghan refugees. He said that these humane values have shaped Pakistan’s inclusive policies in public health, education, livelihoods and social mobility. Interfaith Commission for Peace & Harmony (ICPH) and Albaraka Welfare Rrust International (ABWTI) values the commendable support, work of UNHCR’s for refugees in Pakistan and worldwide host community.

In a world where violence forces thousands of families to flee for their lives each day the time is now to stand with refugees.
