KARACHI, March 3, 2025 – President of Aligarh Muslim University Old Boys Association (AMUOBA) and Chancellor of Sir Syed University of Engineering and Technology (SSUET), Muhammad Akbar Ali Khan chaired a meeting held in Sir Syed Tower that was attended by a large number of AMUOBA members. On this auspicious occasion, Farrukh Ahmed Nizami specifically visited Sir Syed Tower on the invitation of President AMUOBA. The meeting was attended by Jafar Nazir Usmani, Irum Akbar Ali Khan, Adil Usman, Mohsin Khan, Kashif Sheikh, Tariq Sabzari, Noshaba Siddiqui, Fahad Khanzada, Moeed Khan, Osama Ahmed Siddiqui, Absar, Farooq Zaman, Ruqayia, Neelofar and others.
Addressing the meeting, President AMUOBA and Chancellor SSUET, Muhammad Akbar Ali Khan, said that it was a memorable moment for me that I got the opportunity to lead this great institution. We are determined to move forward keeping in mind the history and traditions of this institution and our aim is not only to restore its reputation but also to adopt new ideas and concepts for its further development.
Elaborating further, President AMUOBA Akbar Ali Khan said that we need to improve our education system. The curriculum will undergo modern modifications to bring student education and development into compliance with contemporary standards. International collaborations and cooperation will be encouraged in a research-friendly environment. Together let us elevate our institution to new heights and restore its honor and reputation.
The General Secretary AMUOBA, Jafar Nazir Usmani said that our first priority is to use our best efforts to meet everyone’s expectations. We shall fulfill our commitment. Now it is time to move forward with new determination and ensure positive change by promoting cooperation.
Ms. Eram Akbar Ali Khan said that our success is the result of teamwork and hard efforts, which depends on our cooperation. However, we have to understand our responsibilities in the context of the new situation. I still remember the miserable moment when my husband Akbar Ali Khan’s membership was revoked and we were forced to leave the office. Now, no one will be treated unfairly though. All our decisions will be based on performance and competence.
Former President AMUOBA, Adil Usman said that the AMUOBA and associated organizations will be taken to new heights of development and growth in pursuit of Zakir Khan’s mission. Quality of performance will be improved through modern technologies so that we can be in accord with global standards and the pace of development. Through our combined efforts, we will continue to progress and establish new benchmarks.
Renowned poet Tariq Sabzwari said that the situation has evolved. The chronicle of institutions’ deterioration spans years rather than a few days. Eliminating the signs of the last decade degradation will take time.
The members in the meeting openly presented their candid opinions. They said that short and long-term plans should be designed for the institution’s growth and advancement. It is necessary to introduce such technologies that have value in the job market. A new era has begun after a decade. Strengthening ties between academia and industry is necessary to encourage entrepreneurship. Some of the members claimed that they didn’t know before that they were members of AMUOBA.
