A solemn and vibrant ceremony was held at the Russian Friendship House on May 9 to commemorate “Victory Day,” honoring the sacrifices of millions who lost their lives during World War II. The event was presided over by newly appointed Director General and Vice Consul Nikita Kosyakov.

Pakistan’s Hidden Battle: Why Military Victory Alone Cannot Heal a Nation’s Mental Wounds

Addressing the gathering, Kosyakov highlighted the historic importance of Victory Day in Russia, describing it as a moment of national remembrance and pride. He said the occasion symbolizes courage, sacrifice, and resilience, as Russians across the country pay tribute to loved ones who perished during the Second World War.

He noted that every year on May 9, Russia marks the occasion with a grand military parade at Red Square, where the country showcases its advanced military strength, including modern tanks, missile systems, and aircraft. He emphasized that the day remains deeply emotional for the Russian people and reflects the enduring legacy of those who defended their homeland during the war.

Kosyakov paid rich tribute to Russian soldiers, war heroes, and families affected by World War II, offering a “Red Salute” to the martyrs whose sacrifices shaped world history and secured victory against fascism.

Speaking on the occasion, Fariha Aqib thanked distinguished guests, diplomats, community members, and participants for attending the ceremony and supporting the message of peace, remembrance, and international friendship.

The event also featured a cake-cutting ceremony to celebrate Victory Day, while patriotic and national songs of both Pakistan and Russia were presented, creating an atmosphere of unity and cultural harmony.

During the gathering, Russian participants also congratulated the armed forces of Pakistan for the successful execution of Operation Bunyan-un-Marsoos, praising the professionalism and dedication demonstrated by Pakistan’s military leadership.
