Karachi: The United States attached importance to its longstanding ties with the Pakistan and bilateral exchanges. The United States and Pakistan have been friends since 75 years ago and we have many aspects of cooperation. Consul General Nicole Theriot the U.S. Consulate General Karachi expressed these views during an excellent and fruitful her meeting towards progress for peace with Ambassador at Large for Global Peace, Interfaith harmony and Human rights Imam Allama Muhammad Ahsan Siddiqui Chairman, Interfaith Commission for Peace & Harmony (ICPH) here in Karachi.
In his meeting with Karachi US Consul General Nicole Theriot, Ambassador at Large for Global Peace & Human Rights Imam Allama Ahsan Siddiqui highlighted the historic, longstanding ties between the two countries and underscored Pakistan’s desire to further develop this relationship on the basis of mutual respect, trust, and interest and the ICPH Chairman briefed the Consul General H.E. Nicole Theriot the U.S. Consulate Karachi with the IRF Roundtable for Pakistan and Interfaith Commission for Peace & Harmony (ICPH) vision, mission, policy and performance on religious freedom and minority rights overall initiative towards climate change, peace, and harmony and human rights issues along with their solutions during this meeting. They also discussed Girl’s Education, Woman Empowerment, Sustainable and Cross Cultural Collaborations, Human Rights and Human Values, Climate Chang, Interfaith Harmony, Youth Engagement towards empowerment, Minorities Rights and, religious freedom. He thanked the United States for its continued support for Pakistan’s post-flood reconstruction and rehabilitation efforts, including at the recently held International Conference on Resilient Pakistan in Geneva. Consul General United States Karachi Nicole Theriot said that the United States would continue to support Pakistan’s post-flood recovery as well as the government’s efforts for economic development and reform.
Ambassador at Large for Global Peace & Human Rights Imam Allama Ahsan Siddiqui chairman Interfaith Commission for Peace & Harmony (ICPH) said that, 75 Years of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and the United States. Pakistan and the United States maintain cordial relations rooted in history and shared legacy, which are reinforced by regular high-level interactions and strong people-to-people contacts. He lauded the role of the American Pakistani community in advancing Pakistan- US relations and making constructive contributions to the progress and development of both countries. He particularly emphasized the significance of youth in shaping the contours of a futuristic relationship. The Chairman Interfaith Commission for Peace & Harmony (ICPH) thanked the US government for the support for flood victims. United States response to this horrific and catastrophic flood is highly appreciated which proves US is a close ally of Pakistan and been supporting us in times of crisis and need. Hopefully this close relation between these two states foster with times ahead. He also appreciated the US Embassy Pakistan and consulates role in promoting cultural relations between the two countries.
Consul General H.E. Nicole Theriot the U.S. Consulate General Karachi said the United States stands with its friends in Pakistan in times of trouble. She said that the US will always continue to support Pakistan’s efforts to promote inter-faith harmony and Religious Freedom. He thanked the Consul General Her Excellency Nicole Theriot and said that ICPH has always been vocal in protecting the rights of minorities in Pakistan around the world. H.E. Liam O’Flanagan, Deputy Consul General of U.S. Consulate Karachi and H.E. Michael D Gibbs, political and human rights officer was also present on the occasion.
The US remains unwavering in our commitment to protecting freedom of religion or belief. We must work together to implement the UN Plan of Action, to improve the safety of all FoRB for all. By promoting collaboration among religious freedom and creative talent of the two countries, the Interfaith Commission for Peace & Harmony (ICPH) aims to showcase the promise of Pakistan’s youthful human resource, as well as close relations between Pakistan and the United States. The United States gave $100 million in aid to flood victims. Seeking cooperation on resettlement of refugees, economic recovery, eradication of extremism, and promotion of education. In the war against terrorism Pakistan there is a sense of loss of economy and sacrifice of 80 thousand lives.
Ambassador Imam Allama Ahsan Siddiqui said that ICPH values its relations with the US and we earnestly look forward to enhancing mutually beneficial multi-domain relations based on common interests. Both the US and ICPH, he added, had agreed to work towards “enhancing intercultural and inter-faith dialogue and understanding to promote FoRB for all, tolerance and harmony, religious freedom, minority rights, peace, youth of Pakistan, the role of Government, culture of tolerance, current situation in Afghanistan and its effects on Pakistan in particular mutually beneficial exchange of knowledge, people-to-people contacts and education. H.E. Consul General Nicole Theriot the U.S. Consulate General Karachi highly appreciated the Interfaith Commission for Peace & Harmony (ICPH) initiatives and urged it to continue with future possible collaboration.
