United States: The United States has confirmed that it sees Pakistan as a long-term partner but also recognizes there are some disagreements between the two countries. During a recent briefing, State Department spokesman Matthew Miller answered questions about US sanctions on certain companies linked to Pakistan’s ballistic missile program. He stressed that while the US values its relationship with Pakistan, differences do exist.
In response, the Pakistani Foreign Office criticized the US actions, calling them biased and politically motivated. A spokesman from Pakistan pointed out that previous sanctions were often based on suspicion and involved items not listed under any export control rules, yet were still labeled as sensitive.
These ongoing tensions show the complicated nature of US-Pakistan relations. While both countries work together on issues like counterterrorism, they also face disagreements over military and trade practices. As they move forward, both sides will need to keep talking to address their concerns while continuing to cooperate in shared interests.
