UNSG calls for efforts to protect the health, rights of women in wake of coronavirus

UN chief Antonio Guterres condemns terrorists attacks in Karachi, Orakzai

WEB DESK – UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has called for efforts to protect the health and rights of women and girls in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic.

In a message, Guterres said corona virus is deepening existing inequalities and vulnerabilities particularly for women and girls.

He warned that with many countries on lockdown and health systems struggling to cope with Covid-19 these issues are being side lined and gender-based violence is on the rise.

Guterres stressed that we cannot allow the Coronavirus pandemic to reverse progress we have made towards these goals.
