INDIA : A unique case of jewelry theft has come to light in India, leaving the goldsmith community in shock and fear. The thief was none other than a pigeon. The bullion market in Digana, a city in the Indian state of Rajasthan, began to present a scene of surprise and fear when, in a unique incident, a pigeon flew away from a jewelry shop with a gold chain worth about one hundred thousand rupees in its beak. According to eyewitnesses, the incident occurred when artisans were busy making gold jewelry at a jewelry shop in the Sarafa Bazaar. Suddenly, a pigeon entered the shop and in the blink of an eye, it caught the gold chain on the table in its beak and flew away. Seeing this scene, the shopkeeper was shocked and for a few moments, panic spread throughout the market. The pigeon flew out of the shop and landed on the roof of a nearby market, where it remained visible for some time. People present at the scene kept an eye on the pigeon and began efforts to retrieve the chain. After much struggle, the dove flew away and the gold chain fell to the ground below, which the merchants safely picked up. Traders breathed a sigh of relief after the chain was safely returned. Bullion market traders say security has already become a major challenge due to rising gold prices, but this is the first incident of its kind where a pigeon was seen flying away with a gold chain. This unique incident became the topic of conversation throughout the market, and everyone expressed surprise at this unusual “theft.”
