Islamabad (October-21-2024) : Trade leader and founder President of Attock Chamber of Commerce Mirza Abdul Rehman has said that the business community is disappointed by the president of FPCCI’s negative behaviour.
He said that indifference to official matters and ignoring the issues of the business community is damaging this vital trade body.
The president of the Apex Chamber has spent three months abroad out of the nine months he has been in office. When he is in home town, he comes to the office at five in the evening and goes home late at night, which results in many problems.
Mirza Abdul Rehman said that the central leaders of UBG and the business community are very disappointed with President FPCCI’s behaviour.
He added that all the important matters have been entrusted to unelected persons, and the elected officials are being disregarded.
He observed that the FPCCI capital office looks more like a disorganised market than a trade organization’s office.
He said that the president of FPCCI has been abroad for three months out of nine and rarely visits the offices of Lahore, Peshawar, Quetta, and the head office of FPCCI.
FPCCI recently held an awards function to which two hundred people were invited. Half were unrelated, some belonged to the Islamabad Chamber, and a few belonged to trade organizations.
Mirza Abdul Rahman said that the awards are based on performance, but FPCCI gave them to those who paid millions, which shows that these were not genuine awards.
Up to four million rupees were spent on the event, which FPCCI collected from trade organisations. This money was not for luxury and fake awards but for the business community’s interests, he remarked.
The FPCCI president ignored the delegations from Saudi Arabia and other friendly countries and sent unelected people to represent them in the crucial meetings.
The business leader said that frustrated with the FPCCI, key sectors have formed their trade associations, notably the Pakistan Business Council, which fully participates in important events.
He noted that the leadership of UBG has become a vested group engaged in nepotism and plunder, which is destroying the trade body.
