DG Khan: Punjab Police thwarted a militant attack in the Taunsa Sharif area of Dera Ghazi Khan on Saturday, killing two terrorists. The clash occurred two days after a rocket attack in Rahim Yar Khan killed over 12 policemen and injured several others. During the gun battle, insurgents used hand grenades and heavy weapons against the police. SHO Sadiq Baramani and police constable Muzammil Nazir were injured.
The attack was part of a broader threat, with previous intelligence indicating terrorist infiltration into Punjab. Police had been on high alert, particularly at checkpoints along the Punjab-Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa border. After a fierce exchange, the militants were neutralized. Punjab Police chief Dr. Usman Anwar commended the officers’ bravery and assured that all efforts would be made to protect citizens. A search operation is ongoing in the area to ensure no further threats.
