KARACHI : The United Nations General Assembly An event was organized to designate June 27 as “Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Day” to raise awareness about the important contribution of SMEs
to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
On this occasion, the President of SME Foundation, Waliullah Khan, said that they are trying to provide awareness about the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. There is potential to provide education, health and employment opportunities to the people by providing awareness about the Sustainable Development Goals.
Waliullah Khan said that there are vast opportunities to invest in Pakistan while foreign investors are also interested in investing in Pakistan. SME Foundation is dedicated to empowering poor people, women and youth.
He said that the development and prosperity of any country depends on its economy, which not only makes the people prosperous, but the country emerges on the world map by joining the list of developed countries.
Waliullah Khan said that 76 percent of Pakistan’s population consists of youth and half of the population is women. If steps are taken to make them educated, skilled and empowered at the private and government level, they can also play their role in the development of the country.
He said that in the emerging markets around the world, SMEs provide the most employment opportunities due to which SME development is being prioritized worldwide.
