On the occasion of Iqbal Day, a joint ceremony was organized by the Karachi Bar Association and Brooklyn Secondary School at the Jinnah Auditorium, City Court, Karachi. The event was gracefully compered by Rafia Tahir. The Chief Guest of the ceremony was Advocate Aamir Nawaz Warraich, President of the Karachi Bar Association.
Students of Brooklyn Secondary School paid rich tribute to the Poet of the East, Dr. Allama Muhammad Iqbal (RA) through recitations of his poetry, speeches, national songs, and tableaus. Teachers including Ms. Sana, Ms. Areesha, Ms. Iram Imran, Mr. Muhammad Saad Malik, Mr. Muhammad Fahad Malik, Ms. Rija Nazir, Ms. Noreen, Ms. Iman Kashif, Ms. Qurat Shahid, Ms. Maria Nasir, Ms. Sidra Shahab, Ms. Ramsha Ashfaq, Ms. Manahil Shahab, Ms. Areeba Noor, Ms. Habsa Ijaz, and others shed light on Iqbal’s life, philosophy, and contributions.
Arshad Malik, Chief Executive of Brooklyn Secondary School, stated that Iqbal was the true representative of the Muslim Ummah and a poet who brought glad tidings for humanity. He further said, “Iqbal’s dream was turned into reality by Quaid-e-Azam, and now it is our duty to safeguard this blessed homeland of Pakistan. Iqbal envisioned it, Quaid created it, and now we are shaping its future generations.”
The Chief Guest, Advocate Aamir Nawaz Warraich, said, “From a noble vision comes noble creation. Pakistan is the finest manifestation of Iqbal’s great thought and elevated vision.” He added that Iqbal not only introduced the concept of purposeful poetry but also utilized his art to pursue a great mission.
He expressed appreciation for Brooklyn Secondary School’s administration for their efforts in reviving the glory of education amid today’s challenging economic conditions, and for providing students with both quality education and enriching extracurricular activities. He commended Arshad Malik (Chief Executive), Shifona Ashraf (Principal), and all teachers for their sincere dedication to educational excellence.
He remarked, “Though education has often been commercialized, the sincerity and determination of this school’s team prove that perseverance and faith will eventually clear the path to success.” He also noted with pleasure that Brooklyn Secondary School is now expanding to Mehmoodabad after Gulshan-e-Zahoor, continuing its mission to promote learning and intellectual development through curricular and co-curricular activities.
During the event, President Karachi Bar Association Advocate Aamir Nawaz Warraich presented Shahine-e-Iqbal Awards, shields, and certificates to teachers for their educational services and students for their outstanding performance.
Principal Shifona Ashraf said, “The legacy of Iqbal is eternal; his contributions will always remain a dynamic part of every era.” Vice Principal Afshan Khalil thanked the teachers, students, and honorable guests for their participation and vowed that the school would continue to work tirelessly to nurture the builders of the nation and the Shaheens of Iqbal.
The ceremony concluded with a special prayer for the prosperity of Pakistan, for the souls of Allama Iqbal (RA), Quaid-e-Azam (RA), Liaquat Ali Khan (RA), other leaders of the Pakistan Movement, and for the late Founder of Brooklyn Secondary School, Madam Rashida Azhar (may her soul rest in peace).
