Pakistan’s National Day at Expo 2025 Osaka Blends Celebration, Culture, and Vision for the Future

The Pakistan Pavilion at Expo 2025 Osaka, in collaboration with the Embassy of Pakistan in Japan, celebrated the country’s National Day with a vibrant blend of cultural performances, an elegant fashion show, and a clear message about Pakistan’s economic and creative potential.

Osaka, Japan – August 15, 2025: The Pakistan Pavilion at Expo 2025 Osaka, in collaboration with the Embassy of Pakistan in Japan, celebrated the country’s National Day with a vibrant blend of cultural performances, an elegant fashion show, and a clear message about Pakistan’s economic and creative potential. Running from August 13 to 16, the festivities engaged visitors in a spirited celebration of Pakistan’s heritage and progress. Leading Pakistan’s participation at this important global platform, Mr. Haroon Akhtar Khan, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister for Industries & Production, headed the official delegation to Expo 2025 Osaka. Accompanied by Mr. Abdul Hameed, Ambassador of Pakistan to Japan and Section Commissioner General for Expo 2025, the delegation was warmly welcomed by Mr. Hisayuki Fujii, State Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan;       Mr. Koji Haneda, Commissioner General; and Mr. Hiroyuki Ishige, Secretary General of the Japan Association for the 2025 World Expo.

A Ceremony Filled with Pride
The official National Day ceremony on August 14 at the National Day Hall “Ray Garden” was a proud moment for Pakistan’s presence at Expo 2025. Guests and dignitaries gathered as the national flag was raised and the anthem played, setting a dignified tone for the day.

In his keynote address, Mr. Haroon Akhtar Khan, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister for Industries & Production, spoke about Pakistan’s rich cultural heritage, its growing industrial base, and the opportunities for stronger trade and investment partnerships with Japan and the wider world. He noted that under the leadership of Prime Minister Mr. Shehbaz Sharif, Pakistan has made significant strides in various sectors of the economy, driven by a vision of innovation, digital transformation, and sustainable growth. Mr. Khan emphasized how Pakistan’s traditions and modern industries work in harmony to create value both domestically and internationally, and highlighted the Pakistan Pavilion’s role in sharing that message with over one million visitors to date.

In his address, Mr. Hisayuki Fujii, conveyed his heartfelt congratulations to the people of Pakistan on their National Day. He praised the strong ties between Japan and Pakistan, highlighting their shared commitment to friendship, cultural exchange, and cooperation.

Following the speeches, the Pakistan National Council of the Arts (PNCA) lit up the stage with folk dances from Punjab, Sindh, Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Kashmir, a vibrant mosaic of traditions and rhythms. The highlight of the program was, Taxila Odyssey, an artistic journey paid tribute to the ancient city’s Buddhist heritage and Pakistan’s historic role in its spread. The segment closed with patriotic songs, as the audience joined in to celebrate the unity and harmony of the Pakistani people.The ceremony concluded with the fashion presentation by Japanese designer Yuna Hattori (brand KANON), whose sustainable designs fused reclaimed Japanese kimono fabrics with traditional Pakistani textiles intoone-of-a-kind creations.

 A Direct Conversation with the Media
Speaking to a full house of Japanese and international media, Mr. Haroon Akhtar Khan outlined Pakistan’s export strengths, from textiles and leather goods to surgical instruments, and emphasized the nation’s drive for innovation. He reiterated Prime Minister Mr. Shehbaz Sharif’s vision to usher in a new industrial revolution and significantly enhance Pakistan’s exports. To achieve this, the Prime Minister has directed all ministries to work towards creating a business and investment-friendly environment for foreign businessmen and investors. Mr. Khan noted that Pakistan’s cultural heritage, from craftsmanship to performance, is not only a source of pride but also a catalyst for economic growth.

Mr. Khan thanked the media for their support in promoting the Pakistan Pavilion, noting its milestone achievement of attracting over one million visitors, making it one of the most visited pavilions at Expo 2025.

Launch of Booklet on Pakistan’s Trade Potential

At the press conference, the Pavilion launched “Pakistan – A Land of Endless Opportunities,” a booklet showcasing the country’s global trade role and potential in key export and investment sectors. Highlights beyond the Ceremony

On the evening of August 14, guests enjoyed another special event of cultural performance followed by the continuation of Yuna Hattori’s cross-cultural fashion show. Later in the evening, Pakistan Pavilion hosted a National Day Dinner, offering guests an opportunity to experience Pakistan’s warm hospitality and cuisine.The festivities will conclude on August 16 with another evening of performances at the Pop-Up Stage, South.

A Lasting Impression
Over three days, the Pakistan Pavilion presented a confident and welcoming image of the country, proud of its traditions, ambitious in its goals, and ready to engage with the world. The combination of cultural performances, high fashion, and a forward-looking economic message made National Day one of the most memorable highlights for Expo visitors.

Located in the Saving Lives thematic zone, the Pavilion has become a must-visit destination for visitors from across Japan and around the world. Its unique theme, “The Universe in a Grain of Salt,” offers an immersive experience built around Pakistan’s iconic Pink Rock Salt, a symbol of purity, resilience, and a vision for a sustainable and inclusive future.
