Security forces eliminated three terrorists during an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in Turbat, located in Balochistan’s Kech district, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) confirmed on Tuesday.
The operation targeted a specific location based on intelligence reports. According to ISPR, the forces engaged the suspects, leading to a heavy exchange of gunfire in which three terrorists were killed.
Weapons, ammunition, and explosives were recovered from the site. The militants were reportedly involved in several attacks against both law enforcement personnel and civilians in the area.
Ongoing sanitisation efforts are underway to ensure no remaining threats exist in the region. The military reaffirmed its commitment to preventing any attempts to disrupt peace and development in Balochistan.
The incident comes amid a surge in terrorist activity in Pakistan, particularly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, following the end of the ceasefire by the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan in November 2022.
A recent report by the Pakistan Institute for Conflict and Security Studies noted that March saw over 100 militant attacks—the highest monthly count since November 2014. Pakistan now ranks second on the Global Terrorism Index 2025, with terror-related fatalities rising by 45% over the past year to 1,081.
