Khairpur – Prof. Dr. Khalil Ahmed Ibupoto, Vice Chancellor, Shah Abdul Latif University, Khairpur attended three-day conference of Vice Chancellors on the theme Promoting Peaceful and Tolerant Campuses held at local hotel, Islamabad organized by the Community Resilience Activity-North (CRA-N) in collaboration with Inter-Universities Consortium for the Promotion of Social Sciences (IUCPSS). In the wake of the conference, the Vice Chancellors of more than 40 Universities of merged Districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab, Sindh, Baluchistan and Islamabad attended.
Talking in the inaugural session of the conference, Prof. Dr. Khalil Ahmed Ibupoto said it is the need of the time to promote the essence of peace and tolerance at the campuses so the quality education could be maintained. In order to inculcate the ideals of the peace at the campuses, the Peace Clubs and Societies may be established. He said we have established first ever Students Societies Centre and Peace Corner in the campus where the 37 students’ societies are working for the capacity building of the students. We have established F.M Radio at University also. Dr. Ibupoto said in the absence of tolerance and harmony the lasting peace of societies cannot be maintained. He emphasized the need to enhance inter-provincial exchange of students’ delegation to foster the inter-provincial coordination and harmony.
The Vice Chancellor also appreciated the hospitality extended by the National Coordinator of IUCPSS Mr. Muhammad Murtaza Noor.
