In recent years, there has been a significant rise in stress, anxiety, and depression among young people. In Pakistan, statistics reveal that around 50% of individuals at the age of 15 and nearly 75% by the age of 25 experience mental health challenges.
Unfortunately, instead of seeking help, many continue to suffer in silence due to the fear of judgment, stigma, or misunderstanding. This lack of open dialogue and awareness can lead to devastating outcomes such as social withdrawal and, in extreme cases, suicide.
It is essential to break the silence surrounding mental health. The government must invest in mental health education, awareness campaigns, and accessible counselling centers to guide young minds toward healing. Schools, universities, and workplaces should also play their part by creating safe spaces for open discussions about mental well-being.
Society needs to realize that mental health is just as important as physical health. Sometimes, a kind word, a listening ear, or timely professional help can make all the difference in someone’s life.
By encouraging empathy, understanding, and resilience, we can help the youth overcome their silent struggles and build a more compassionate, hopeful, and mentally healthy Pakistan.
