Davos, Wednesday Jan 17, 2024 – The prestigious 20th PAKISTAN BREAKFAST at DAVOS at the
Annual Meeting of the World Economic Forum (WEF) Davos organized by the esteemed “Pathfinder
Group,” was held on Wednesday, 17th January. The PAKISTAN PAVILION in Davos saw a gathering of
our industry leaders and visionaries having foreign enterprises across the world. Chairman Pathfinder
Group, Zarrar Sehgal was the host at this event, which fostered a dynamic platform for progressive
dialogue and strategic collaboration.
Moderated by Zarrar Sehgal, the event was addressed by HE Anwaar ul Haq Kakar, Caretaker Prime
Minister of Pakistan and Mirek Dušek, Managing Director, World Economic Forum
The Caretaker Prime Minister of Pakistan, HE Anwaar ul Haq Kakar emphasized the significance of
Pakistan’s geopolitical position and its role in Central Asia, he spoke about the nation’s journey of
transformation towards enhanced competitiveness. Highlighting Pakistan’s diverse culture and
geographical features, including mountains, deserts, and landscapes, he underscored the country’s
greatest asset – its youthful population, constituting 60% under the age of 30. He noted the improvement in
governance, reduced government spending, and increased focus on the private sector.
The PM expressed gratitude for the platform provided by Ikram Sehgal and recounted the unique aspects
of Pakistan’s culture, cuisine, and stories. He emphasized the country’s commitment to fostering not just
trade but also cultural exchange and collaboration.
Mirek Dušek, Managing Director of the World Economic Forum, commended the longstanding partnership
with the Pathfinder Group, celebrating the 20th year of the PAKISTAN BREAKFAST and over 30 years of
WEF’s collaboration with Pathfinder Group. Dušek highlighted the significance of “Rebuilding Trust”, the
central theme of WEF this year, and outlined the WEF’s renewed focus on geopolitical and climate change
discussions.
Dušek explained the innovative EDISION ALLIANCE for the digital inclusion of people globally, specifically
mentioning Virtual Remittance Gateway (VRG), the service provider for Asaan Mobile Accounts (AMA) in
Pakistan and their significant achievement of opening 10 million Asaan AMA Accounts, contributing to
enhanced financial inclusion for the unbanked population. He announced the significant progress made by
EDISON ALLIANCE connecting people by currently engaging 784 million individuals on the way to the 1
BILLION LIVES challenge.
