Lahore: Greenland is currently mining “rare minerals,” but according to the Danish Geological Survey, there are 36.1 million tons of rare mineral resources there. Out of these 34 minerals, 25 have been found there, which are extremely critical and rare. They are used in everything from electric car motors to fighter jets. A total of 55 major raw mineral deposits have been identified, but only one is currently being mined. It should be remembered that the European Union imports 100% of its rare earth minerals from China, while the United States also relies heavily on foreign supply chains. China produces 70 percent of the annual rare earth minerals mined, which was 270,000 tons in 2024. Greenland is also rich in oil and natural gas. According to the US Geological Survey, coastal areas contain 17.5 billion barrels of oil and 148 trillion cubic feet of natural gas. According to a research report by the think tank American Action Forum, the raw value of natural resources in Greenland is more than “$4 trillion,” but extracting these resources is difficult and complex.
