The Indie Art and Craft Show created some creative buzz and energy in Islamabad with crafters, artists and designers putting up their best showcase of novel stationery, gifts, decor items, natural skincare, art pieces, and more.
Participants included Firefly, Daltas Decor, Indus Articrafts, Hunza Alpine, Prisms and Paintbrushes, Zobia’s Artivities, Trinketz, Teegarden, Soap-ish, Dainty Crafts, Shah Jahaan of Multan, Bling, and BLENDS.
To add to the event, Nigar Nazar of Gogi Studios made presence for a book signing for fans and friends. Her work is globally recognized as Pakistan’s first female comic artist and creator of Gogi. The Gogi Studios Team conducted a story telling session to engage children and also hosted a display of merchandise with the launch of their new book. Gogi books have a social message and have long been a part of children’s literature. The subjects are often causes including environmental care and sustainability or education.
Events of this nature are a necessity and hope to uplift and inspire small scale businesses, encouraging them to pursue their passion and believe in their dreams. While the market for crafts is still at an infancy stage in Pakistan, small scale enterprise and cottage scale businesses are certainly paving way for prosperity and growth.
The Indie Art and Craft Show is only the stepping stone for greater ventures and projects ahead in Islamabad. The event was special, more so as it catered to women led initiatives. With sales, exposure, networking potential, and collaboration prospects, The Indie Art and Craft Show has definitely given artists and crafters a day to enjoy and represent their personal journeys.
As part of its vision to empower and support creative businesses, The Crafter’s Guild had also conducted a training for participants to help them with capacity building, marketing, personal development and more not just for the event, but their prospective growth.
