Karachi : I am glad to be able to explain and emphasize the place of vaccination in saving the lives, preventing and controlling the suffering that can be caused to individuals and communities as a whole from various
severe diseases. Vaccines are responsible in a staggering way since 2 to 3 million deaths are avoided due
to the fact that vaccines sensitize our bodies to be able to withstand various infections (World Health Organization, 2023). Diseases such as polio, measles, and hepatitis have been controlled due to vaccines
and this has helped improve the health status of the entire global population. However, a large number of people especially in the countryside are anti-vaccination or at least are skeptical of vaccination because of inadequate information or effects of the immunization. There is adequate evidence that vaccine misinformation leads to the preventable disease outbreaks and that is a menace to the community (UNICEF, 2023). Mass media campaigns should be a priority by the government and all healthcare providers as a measure to enhance vaccinations. People’s fears towards the vaccines can be mitigated through local health messages and dissemination of clear and accurate information. Moreover, free vaccination camps in rural and hard to reach areas would enhance use of the services and protect the population that may be unable to afford vaccination on their own. With these initiatives, we can strengthen our communities and reduce the outbreak of vaccine preventable disease.
