The Annual Maker’s Meet in Lahore gave a platform to women led businesses to connect, network, learn from one other and share one another’s struggles and setbacks over hi tea. For the inspiration segment, guests had an opportunity to hear experiences and insight on overcoming failure by Aimen Kazmi, an artist and illustrator behind the brand Quirky Kahaniyan.
Expertise by M Usman Khan (Checkmate Consultancy) paved way for learning on storytelling for creative businesses. This reflected the impact of brands on consumer buying.
Rafia Shafiq, an Oakville based thread artist-crafter specializing in Phulkari needlework (Dhaga Art) was also present at this year’s Annual Maker’s Meet Lahore. She shared her journey which began over her thesis and led her to spread the craft for Phulkari in Canada and virtually around the world.
Varah Musavvir of The Crafter’s Guild opened up about how such events began and why it was necessary for women creatives and business owners to take time out, bond, and share their journey with others who had similar experiences and struggles.
The segments invoked learning and insight for attendees to make way for a better understanding of their ventures and scalability of their business. Such events and platforms encourage community building and strength among entrepreneurs especially in the local craft fraternity.
Attendees also had an opportunity to share their physical products on a showcase to interact with others and go beyond the visiting card. The evening topped with food and dessert by Mocca. With Karachi and Lahore making waves, the Annual Maker’s Meet Islamabad is next.
