KARACHI February 08th, 2023: Organizers of the Bohra Food Festival hosted an exclusive media tasting event as part of their promotional campaign for Karachi’s first-of-its-kind food festival that will be held in the last week of February 2023. It’s a chance for Karachiites to try Bohra cuisines and a variety of other food items, including Japanese food, Pan-Asian food, and the most popular desi staples. Apart from the food, the festival will have several fun activities for every family member so everyone can have a joyous time at the event.
The event was attended by prominent media journalists and anchor persons as well as renowned bloggers and vloggers of the city, including Syed Zafar Abbas Jafri from JDC (Jafariya Disaster Management Cell).
The event began with opening remarks by Mr. Murtaza Haideri, Manager of PR, Dawat-e-Hadiya. He shared that the festival’s primary objective is for the people of Karachi to learn about and embrace the Bohra culture, and there’s no better way to do that than with food. Mr. Haideri sees the festival as a way of giving back to the community and opening doors for all Karachiites to get a taste of Bohra hospitality and their food, which is deeply rooted in traditions. He also shared how the festival is a way to create an entertainment opportunity for the people of Nazimabad, who are usually devoid of any means of recreation. Lastly, Mr. Haideri talked about the “zero food wastage” policy of the festival. All the leftover food from the event will be collected and distributed to Karachi’s needy and starving people.
The festival aims to bring the foodies and small & big food entrepreneurs under one roof so they can create a delightful culinary experience for the food-loving people of Karachi. Apart from authentic Bohra food, the festival will also have a selection of other restaurants and eateries, offering all kinds of cuisines ranging from Turkish, Japanese, Chinese, and various other foods and delicacies loved by Karachiites. Stalls will be setup for all food entrepreneurs from which they’ll cater the people of Karachi attending the Festival.
The focal point of the exclusive tasting event was the thaal, a Bohra staple and a defining element of their cuisine. The idea was to get the word out about how Karachiites can experience the thaal meal by pre-booking their meals before the event to enjoy the delicious feast with their loved ones and have an authentic food experience.
The Bohra Food Festival will be held at the North Walk in the heart of North Nazimabad and is expected to host more than 100,000 people who will participate in the 3-day festival during February 24th-26th, 2023, in Karachi.
