It is pertinent to mention that Khartoum Fair is an annual event of general products / services which takes place every year in Khartoum Sudan. It features wide range of exhibits such as Industrial and agricultural machinery and equipment, building machinery and materials, automobiles, vehicles, transport, telecommunications, home furniture, consumer electronics, electronic and electrical appliances, consumer goods, food, cosmetics, services. Pakistani firms from pharma, surgical, sports, food, textiles, leather products especially footwear, engineering especially firms dealing in agriculture implements, fans, auto parts, home
appliances, construction material and services sector including IT, medical, education, tourism and other services are encouraged to apply for participation in the event.
It is worthwhile to mention that Sudan imported goods worth US$ 7.6 billion last year which included products that are also exported by Pakistan to the world. However, due to low level of participation in events and engagement between business communities of both countries, exports from Pakistan to Sudan remain stagnant and far below its export potential.
To encourage exports to Sudan, information of the event has already been shared with the leading chambers, associations and export oriented companies of Pakistan for participation. TDAP has also approached Engineering Development Board and Defence Export Promotion Organization for circulation among interested firms and for participation in the event.
Pakistan’s Ambassador as well as Trade and Investment Counselor in Sudan have also assured their full support for quality B2B meetings and facilitation for Pakistani companies in the event. They have requested TDAP to bring a sizeable number of Pakistani companies in the event for participation and display of Pakistani products so that potential of the Sudanese market could be exploited by establishing business connection.
Last week, during the webinar on regulatory framework of Nigeria, Secretary Trade Development Authority of Pakistan and Joint Secretary Ministry of Commerce also urged the participants of webinar to consider participation in the Khartoum Fair, as the event shall provide much needed platform to Pakistani exporters to establish linkages with the Sudanese buyers. They further said that participation in international event is an important and effective marketing promotional tool which must be utilized for market exploration. Covid-19 has badly affected exhibition industry across the world, halting many important international events. Therefore, opportunity like Khartoum Fair Sudan should not be missed by Pakistani firms.
Last date to apply for participation in the event is 6th November 2020 and maximum three days’ extension in deadline is possible. Interested exporters are advised to submit applications along with the required documents to avail this opportunity.
