Karachi: Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA) handed over The handing-over ceremony of “Motorized Electric Wheelchairs” by Turkish Cooperation and Coor Motorized Wheelchairs to Darul Sukun to support the empowerment of differently-abled people. The handing-over ceremony of the wheelchairs was held at Darul Sukun Head Office on Saturday, 25th of May, in the presence of Prof. Dr. Mehmet Paçac?, Ambassador of Republic of Türkiye to Pakistan, Sindh Health Minister Dr. Azra Fazal Pechuho, Consul General of Türkiye to Karachi Cemal Sangu, T?KA Karachi head Halil ?brahim Ba?aran and many other distinguished guests.


Speaking at the ceremony, Turkish Ambassador Paçac? said that Türkiye and Pakistan ties goes long back in the history even before establishment of Republic of Türkiye and Islamic Republic of Pakistan. Pakistan showed up extending brotherly arm to earth quake effected Türkiye abs saved 28 lives, similarly, Türkiye sent 13 good will trains to Pakistan after flood in Pakistan. Through Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency-TIKA, we will continue to support Pakistan.


Sindh Health Minister Dr. Azra Fazal Pechuho expressed her gratitude to TIKA for its steady practices towards the development of the health sector in the province of Sindh, the capital of which is Karachi. She said that Sindh government appreciates the support of Türkiye and T?KA aiming for development of Pakistan and will support such causes ana facilitate it by all means.


TIKA Karachi head Halil Ibrahim BaIaran said that In addition to development projects, TIKA carries out projects that will make the lives of disabled people easier in many countries of the world. TIKA contributes to empowerment of the quality of life of our disabled Pakistani brothers and sisters by carrying out similar projects in Pakistan. AS TIKA, we are so pleased to hand over 20 electronic wheelchairs to Darul Sukun. I believe that these wheelchairs will affect the daily lives of these beautiful special people positively.


At his welcoming speech, CEO of Darul Sukun Savio Pereira said that “This gift of motorized wheelchairs from the heart of Turkish people is a dream come true for these children and we hope this ties we form with Türkiye will strengthen more due to mutual brotherhood we share.


DEPD Secretary Taha Farooqui spoke at the ceremony and said that as a full fledge department for empowerment of persons with disabilities, they make sure to support all organizations working for this cause. He also thanked Government of Türkiye and TIKA for its support.
After speeches, 20 Motorized electric wheelchairs were handed over by TIKA to Darul Sukun which provides services to physically and mentally disabled children and adults, both men and women in poverty or unable to address their challenges.
