Subject: Concerns over the Supreme Court’s Order to Reconduct MDCAT.

University student Karachi, Sindh.

Karachi Pakistan : I am writing to express my concerns regarding the Supreme Court’s recent decision to reconduct the Medical and Dental College Admission Test (MDCAT) within four weeks. This development has sparked significant distress among students, especially those who have already enrolled in medical universities
based on their original MDCAT results. The decision follows numerous controversies, including allegations of mismanagement and irregularities during the initial test held in September 2024. Several students and parents reported concerns about compromised test integrity, claiming that exam papers had been leaked and sold beforehand. Such issues not only undermined the fairness of the process but also put students through unnecessary anxiety. As a result, the Supreme Court mandated the retest to ensure transparency and accountability. While this order aims to restore fairness, it has placed undue stress on students who have already begun their academic journey. These students now face the dilemma of re-preparing for the test while
managing their current coursework. This situation has raised concerns among parents and educators
about its impact on students’ mental well-being and academic progress. Furthermore, conducting a large-scale exam under such circumstances demands improved management and tighter security to prevent previous issues from reoccurring. Authorities must ensure a smoother process this time, with transparent communication to minimize further disruptions. I urge educational bodies and the government to consider the hardships students are facing. It is essential to support these students during this challenging transition and explore ways to accommodate those already enrolled without jeopardizing their academic careers.
