KARACHI: In a bid to tackle the lack of opportunities for youth skill development, Caretaker Provincial Minister for Sports, Culture, and Youth Affairs of Sindh, Dr. Junaid Ali Shah, unveiled a visionary plan to construct sports fields aimed at fostering the potential of the younger generation.

Speaking at the Korangi Association of Trade and Industry (KATI), Dr. Junaid Ali Shah emphasized his commitment to integrate sports and cultural activities into the educational curriculum, making them a compulsory part of school life. He advocated for mandatory informational visits to cultural sites, aiming to cultivate a well-rounded educational experience.

Joined by prominent figures including KATI President Faraz-ur-Rehman, Senior Vice President Nighat Awan, Standing Committee Chairman Nasir Shaikh, Former Presidents Masood Naqi, Syed Farrukh Mazhar and others, Dr. Shah unveiled his plans to strategically place boards along the main superhighway, guiding people towards historically significant locations. He also revealed his ambition to introduce educational content centered around historical landmarks, culture, and heritage, setting the stage for a revitalized educational approach.

Addressing the critical issue of encroachments on public spaces, Dr. Junaid Ali Shah highlighted that 47 grounds had been successfully cleared of encroachments following a Supreme Court directive. Notably, he acknowledged the collaborative efforts of Mayor Karachi Murtaza Wahab, who is actively working to provide youth with more spaces for sports and recreation.

Dr. Shah’s innovative vision extends further with a proposal for a talent hunt and awards initiative during his tenure. He stressed the importance of recognizing exceptional achievements beyond traditional honors, advocating for Sindh-specific awards to inspire and celebrate outstanding performers.

Echoing his commitment to youth empowerment, the caretaker provincial minister expressed his concern over the fading cultural heritage and traditions. He revealed plans to produce an extensive drama series dedicated to the legendary Salahuddin Ayyubi, aimed at educating and inspiring the younger generation about their national heroes.

Prior to Dr. Shah’s address, KATI President Faraz-ur-Rehman underscored the pressing issue of limited opportunities for the youth to showcase their skills. He lamented the absence of platforms for both entrepreneurial and employment pursuits among the youth.

Faraz-ur-Rehman hailed the contributions of the late Dr. Asghar Ali Shah, Dr. Junaid Ali Shah’s father, who played a pivotal role in creating spaces and opportunities for the youth. He emphasized KATI’s commitment to supporting these efforts, particularly in table tennis.

Faraz-ur-Rehman urged for increased attention to cultural activities and vowed to address these concerns in his meeting with the Chief Minister. Stressing the importance of unity in challenging times, he called on the business community to collaborate for the betterment of the province and the nation.

The event also saw other influential figures from KATI, including Nasir Shaikh, who shed light on the need to diversify sports beyond cricket, offering equal encouragement to athletes in other disciplines, especially women.

Former President Masood Naqi praised the late Dr. Asghar Ali Shah for his contributions to both medicine and sports. Naqi highlighted the scarcity of training centers and emphasized the urgency of fostering healthy competition and coaching.

As the Sindh province looks toward a future intertwined with sports, culture, and youth empowerment, Dr. Junaid Ali Shah’s innovative initiatives offer a beacon of hope, paving the way for a brighter, more enriched society.
