KARACHI – President of SITE Association of Industry, Suleman Chawla, has fully endorsed the call of the leader of the business community Siraj Kassam Teli for Army’s assistance and supervision of Karachi-the financial capital of Pakistan.
In a press statement, he said that it has now become the need of the hour to pay immediate attention towards civic issues of Karachi which have gone from bad to worse, and take practical steps instead of rendering lip service and blaming each other for non-delivery. The decision for Army’s assistance and supervision should be taken with sole intention to resolve the infrastructure issues of the city in a transparent and corruption free manner.
Chawla lauded the decision of federal government to assign the task of nala cleaning and solid waste management to NDMA and FWO and appreciated hard work being done by NDMA and FWO team during past few days in Karachi, due to which Karachiites did not faced that much difficulties which they experienced a fortnight ago when the city received torrential rainfalls.
“Cleanliness drive should not remain restricted to just big nala cleaning and clearing of the choked drains but every single nook and corner of Karachi should be completely cleaned of garbage on a war-footing, and it must be an ongoing process until the entire city is completely cleaned, particularly all industrial zones of Karachi”, he particular mentioned the complete collapse of site infrastructure he said literally there are no roads, nallas never cleaned for decades , disposal of solid waste concept is unknown added Suleman Chawla.
Chawla remarked that under the current scenario, we see no solution but the supervision of the army to take care of Karachi civic issues amid failure of Sindh Government and city administration to address its civic issues during the past three decades.
