The Sindh Government has introduced a new initiative to distribute free electric motorcycles to women, aiming to enhance their mobility and support them in their professional roles.
Under this scheme, the Sindh Department of Transport plans to distribute 1,200 e-bikes annually, with 100 women receiving bikes every month. To fund the project, the department has requested a budget of Rs300 million for the Electric Vehicle (EV) motorcycle scheme.
The motorcycles will be allocated through a lottery system, ensuring fair distribution among applicants. The Sindh Cabinet is set to discuss the scheme’s approval in its upcoming meeting on February 27, where it will also review the proposed Rs30 million allocation for the program.
This initiative follows a similar effort by the Punjab Government, which started distributing 100,000 electric bikes to students across the province in December last year.
