KARACHI: Sindh’s Senior Minister Sharjeel Memon chaired a high-level session on Tuesday to address the alarming rise in road accidents across Karachi. The meeting, held on the directives of the chief minister, was attended by opposition leaders, transporters, and key government officials.
Among the attendees were Opposition Leader in the Sindh Assembly MQM’s Ali Khursheedi, Jamaat-e-Islami’s parliamentary leader Muhammad Farooq, Muslim Pervez, Raja Arif Sultan, and ANP’s Shahi Syed. Sindh Home Minister Zia Lanjar, Secretary Transport Asad Zamin, CCPO Javed Alam Odho, and DIG Traffic Pir Muhammad Shah were also present.
Representing the transport sector, Liaquat Mehsud, Sardar Abdul Hameed, Ghulam Muhammad Afridi, and Alhaj Yousuf participated in the discussions.
The session focused on the increasing number of traffic accidents in the city, regulations regarding heavy transport movement, and related concerns. Additionally, incidents of arson and vehicle burnings following traffic accidents were also reviewed.
