KARACHI – Consulate-General of Japan in Karachi, in collaboration with Pakistan Marital Arts Association (PMAA), organized the “6th Men & Women Self-Defense Workshop” from September 2 to September 4, 2019, at Japan Information and Culture Centre (JICC).
The purpose of the workshop was to raise participants’ awareness of self-defense against harassment-bullying and terrorism. More than 220 young martial arts players belonging to Karachi and Interior Sindh participated in the three-day workshop and practiced a number of moves and forms of martial arts.
Deputy Consul-General of Japan in Karachi, Mr. Katsunori Ashida, appreciated young participants for learning self-defense skills during the workshop and hoped that they would continue practicing the moves for perfection. However, he told the participants to try and make themselves safe and to escape as a first step in a dangerous situation.
He also hoped that the self-defense workshop will further contribute towards the development of cultural ties between Japan and Pakistan.
