Authorities in Murree have imposed Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC) for three days in anticipation of a Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) protest scheduled for February 8.
As per a notification issued by the local administration, all public gatherings, rallies, processions, and sit-ins have been prohibited during this period to maintain law and order.
PTI leader Asad Qaiser earlier declared February 8 a Black Day to protest alleged rigging in the 2023 elections. Meanwhile, PTI General Secretary Salman Akram Raja, speaking to the media during a court hearing in Islamabad, clarified that the party’s protest would be centered in Swabi and conducted peacefully at the union council and tehsil levels. He assured that PTI does not intend to provoke violence and urged supporters to participate without causing disruptions.
