Scientists have discovered an unknown and gigantic dinosaur species in the desert of the West African country of Niger, which is being described as the biggest discovery of its kind in more than a century. According to experts, its size was comparable to the fearsome Tyrannosaurus rex. The discovered structure shows that this new species of dinosaur was about 40 feet long and had a 20-inch long sword-like crest on its head. According to foreign media reports, this dinosaur called Spinosaurus roamed the African continent about 95 million years ago. According to research published in the scientific journal Science, the fossils discovered by the research team belong to Spinosaurus mirabilis, which Paul Sereno, a paleontologist and head of research at the University of Chicago, has described as the hellish heron. According to media reports, Paul Sereno says that if you look at the length of the skull, the size of the neck and the ratio of the hind legs, it has a structure similar to a seagull. This dinosaur lived in an era when today’s desolate desert was covered with lush forests and rivers. Previously, most Spinosaurus fossils were found near the coastal areas of North Africa. Some experts believed that this fish-eating creature was completely aquatic and hunted while swimming in deep waters, but this time the fossils have been discovered hundreds of miles inland from the sea.
