A single wrongly perceived judgment of the Supreme Court of Pakistan has taken another life related to Nasla Tower. Earlier a lady resident of Nasla Tower had lost her life due to sheer depression after she and her family was thrown out of her home and now builder of Nasla Tower has also succumbed to sheer depression after demolition of the building.
In a statement Chairman Association of Builders and Developers of Pakistan (ABAD) Mohsin Sheikhani, Senior Vice Chairman Hanif Memon, Vice Chairman Sattar Kantawala, Chairman Southern Region Sufian Adhia, Chairman Northern Region Eng. Akbar Sheikh and Vice Chairman Hyderabad Sub Region Qamar Zaman, expressing deep sorrow and grief over sad demise of Nasla Tower builder Abdul Qadir Katalia, have said that the late Abdul Qadir has built Nasla Tower after going through all legal formalities but later on the Apex Court, taking action on a frivolous application, ordered to demolish the building.
The order of Supreme Court has rendered more than three dozen families homeless as they have to move in rented houses and still waiting for compensation due to haphazard decision. ABAD office bearers said that one of the residents of Nasla Tower Shamim Akhtar died last December due to sheer depression and now the builder died due to the same reason. If no immediate remedial action is taken, we fear that more residents of Nasla Tower may lose their lives, they feared saying that responsibility of their lives will be on the Apex court, they said.
They said that the Supreme Court’s decision on wrongly perceived ground and without proper investigation has been spread fear in builder and developer community of Karachi that who will give guarantee that the buildings built by them after all legal formalities will not be demolished. Not only builders and developers but potential purchasers of plots, homes and flats are also victims of confusion.
They said that construction industry is considered the mother industry all over the world as more than 70 industries are directly or indirectly allied with this industry and the present government, taking the right decision, has declared construction sector as the industry and announced a number of incentives for progress of the industry and the national economy. They said that if right decisions are not taken, the economy of Pakistan will further suffer.
