Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Industries and Production Tasneem Ahmed Qureshi visited and chaired meeting to review performance of Karachi Tools, Dies & Moulds Centre (KTDMC) on 9 January 2023.
The briefing was given under leadership of CEO Mansoor Ahmed. KTDMC is one of the fastest growing dies and moulds manufacturing setup in Pakistan. Further, KTDMC moulds are used in CD-70 and CD-125 moulds.
SAPM Tasneem Ahmed asked about whether KTDMC is making moulds locally or importing material from abroad. The CEO mentioned that previously its raw material used to be imported but now KTDMC is producing it locally. The SAPM Tasneem Ahmed acknowledged the efforts of team into making it a self-sustainable entity from day one.
KTDMC is also setting up a sheet metal plant to further diversify its product range. However, KTDMC presented certain issues in front of SAPM on Industries and Production. First one related to outstanding income tax refunds issue and asked to get permanent tax exemption certificate from FBR if possible to avoid any future issue of refunds. Next KTDMC mentioned about consideration for the removal of custom regularity duty on raw material for the manufacturing of dies and moulds which is very high and makes the moulds very expensive. The SAPM asked KTDMC management to send a written request on the aforementioned issues so that these issues can be addressed.
Further, the SAPM asked about different training programs to which KTDMC mentioned that we have specialized courses for all types of personnel’s and target is about training 300 students per year so that professionals add value to the overall industry.
Tasneem Ahmed SAPM on Industries and Production appreciated the efforts of KTDMC of locally providing texturing and other moulds and dies services to different industries in Pakistan which is helpful for economy of Pakistan.
