KHAIRPUR – All Pakistan Inter-University Taekwondo Championship-2022 organized by the Sports Section, Shah Abdul Latif University, Khairpur in collaboration with Higher Education Commission, Islamabad inaugurated at University. Prof. Dr. Khalil Ahmed Ibupoto, Vice Chancellor, Shah Abdul Latif University, Khairpur inaugurated the Championship at Syed Qaim Ali Shah Sports Complex of University.
Speaking on this occasion, Prof. Dr. Khalil Ahmed Ibupoto remarked that Taekwondo was started in the wake of 1940s and 1950s by various Korean Martial Artists as a blend of the indigenous Korean fighting method with influence from foreign martial arts, i.e. karate and Chinese martial arts. He said we are committed to provide the better and possible sports facilities to our students. He maintained that the essence of peace through sports may be promoted which could provide a healthy competition at campus. Dr. Ibupoto lauded the efforts of Higher Education Commission for the promotion of sports culture at the Universities.
Prof. Dr. Syed Baqir Ali Shah, Chairman Sports Section briefed the Vice Chancellor about the sports activities conducted by the Sports Section of the University. He also welcomed the Vice Chancellor and Officials of the Guests Teams.
On the first day of Championship, University of Central Punjab, Lahore secured first, University of Lahore secured and Lahore Garrison University secured third position.
In this championship, the teams of University of Karachi, Superior University, Lahore, The Islamia University, Bahawalpur, Hazara University, Mansehra, University of Management & Technology, Lahore, University of Punjab, Lahore, Benazir Bhutto Shaheed University of Technology & Skills Development, Khairpur, National University of Modern Languages, Islamabad, University of Veterinary & Animal Sciences, Lahore, Khuwaja Ghulam Farid University, Rahim Yar Khan, Bannu University of Science & Technology, Bannu, Government College University, Lahore and host Shah Abdul Latif University, Khairpur are participating.
Prof. Dr. Mumtaz Ali Junejo, Dean Faculty of Management Sciences, Prof. Dr. Qasid Hussain Mallah, Dean Faculty of Physical Sciences, Prof. Dr. Mumtaz Hussain Mahar, Prof. Dr. Minhoon Khan Laghari, Prof. Dr. Ikhtiar Ali Ghumro, Prof. Dr. Amir Hussain Shar, Prof. Dr. Mushtaque Jakhrani, Prof. Dr. Iram Rani, Prof. Dr. Hissamuddin Shaikh, Mr. Muhammad Murad Pirzada, Director Physical Education, Mr. Ghulam Mujtaba Jatoi, Deputy Director Physical Education, Mr. Taj Muhammad Mahar, Sports Officer and others attended the inaugural ceremony.
The technical support was extended by Sindh Taekwondo Association and Pakistan Taekwondo Federation and especially the efforts of Col. Waseem are highly commendable.
