Karachi : Engineer Sabir Hussain Qaimkhani, a leader of MQM Pakistan and Member of the Provincial Assembly of Sindh, addressed the opening day of a five-day workshop organized by the Women Media Center in Hyderabad. He emphasized that Pakistan’s constitution guarantees freedom of expression to its citizens. He noted that digital media has revolutionized the world, enabling the public to access and hear the truth. However, placing restrictions on digital freedom does not offer a lasting solution.
Sabir Hussain Qaimkhani informed the students of Sindh University Jamshoro about the benefits of digital media and its professional platforms. He stated that information and expression cannot be blocked or eliminated. He pointed out that former U.S. President Barack Obama ran his entire election campaign on social media, and a revolution was sparked in Turkey through a social media message. He stressed that in civilized countries, people are educated rather than subjected to restrictions, as these do not resolve issues.
Sabir Hussain Qaimkhani praised the Executive Director of the Women Media Center, Fauzia Shaheen, for organizing the workshop on “Digital Media for Digital Democracy.” He urged the students to promote truth in digital media and to avoid becoming part of any propaganda.
