Jaan Nisar is a Geo TV drama serial that has received much appreciation from the audience for its interesting storyline and the pairing of Danish Taimoor and Hiba Bukhari. Written by Rehana Aftab, and directed by Mohsin Mirza, the series is produced by Abdullah Kadwani and Asad Qureshi under 7th Sky Entertainment where we see Nosherwan Ghaznavi portrayed by Danish Taimoor falling in love with Dua and marrying her.

However, the show has recently stirred up some controversy, especially towards Episode 29 involving romantic scenes between Nosherwan and Dua which received a hell lot of backlash on social media. Some audiences got irritated, with some of them stating that the scenes were unrequired, provocative, and crass.

The drama makers have been severely criticized for including what people deem as distasteful elements in “Jaan Nisar”. Many viewers are convinced that such scenes lead to the growth of ungainliness in society while expressing disappointment that a family-oriented drama has turned into this.

Specifically, Danish Taimoor and Hiba Bukhari have taken most of the heat for the scenes that many found to be provocative. Some fans complained that more nudity scenes are being depicted after marriage, claiming that Bukhari was involved in them. Character dialogues and other expressions in the scenes have been the center of controversy and people say that it is vulgar and not good for children.

This debate raises questions about the suitability of the programs that are being aired on television for families in Pakistan. It captures present-day debates regarding the role of productions in media entertainment especially where cultural taboos are involved.

While such discussions continue, the reaction of the producers and actors of “Jaan Nisar” will also influence public perception in its manner. It adequately points out the fact that media plays a crucial role in defining acceptable behavior and entertainment in a society.
