Malaysian auto giant Proton, which has collaborated with Al-Haj Automotive, the makers of FAW Automobiles in Pakistan, Al-Haj Automotive has introduced the Malaysian made SUV Proton X70 in Pakistan. A colorful ceremony was held at a local hotel in Karachi in which national cricketer Umar Gul and other eminent personalities were present.
Ibad Jamal Director Marketing Proton Pakistan, said that the car is powered by a 1500cc turbo engine is much more powerful than the Sportage engines and is an ideal car for off-road driving. There is a feature, he added, adding that Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad had presented the same car as a gift to Prime Minister of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan Imran Khan during his visit to Pakistan.
Assembling of Malaysian made cars will be started locally, the assembly plant will initially have the capacity to produce 10,000 units per annul, which can be increased to 20,000 units in double shifts, he said. Proton’s 1300cc sedan car Saga is also being brought to Pakistan and we hope that these two vehicles will be successful in gaining the attention of consumers in Pakistan.These are the expected features in the upcoming vehicle. It is pertinent to mention that the company has not revealed the features as yet.
The base model has halogen headlights with DRL while the upper trims will get LED and those will be adaptive headlights with auto dip and high feature. The car is a based on the Geely Boyue but to give it a Proton face, there is a different grill on the front which is called” infinite weave grill”.
When it comes to safety, this is where X70 will be the champion. Six airbags standard on all trims. ABS, Auto brake hold, Brake Assist, Hill assist, EBD, Traction control will be standard. TPMS / Tire Pressure Monitoring System will also be available.
