Karachi: Professor Muhammad Saeed Quraishy, Vice-Chancellor of Dow University, has stated that a laptop is merely a device, and its positive use enhances students’ creative and research capabilities. Laptops are a valuable tool for academic activities, and excessive use of smartphones is not as beneficial in academics. He made these remarks as a Chief Guest at the first laptop distribution ceremony held in Karachi under the third phase of Prime Minister’s Laptop Scheme at Dow University of Health Sciences. On this occasion Dr. Javed Ali Memon, Regional Director of the Higher Education Commission Sindh, Coordinator Higher Education Commission for Prime Minister’s Laptop Scheme Manzoor Ali, Special Focal Person for Prime Minister’s Laptop Scheme at Dow University, Professor Naseem Ahmed Sheikh, and Registrar Dow University Dr. Ashar Afaq also addressed the audience. Professor Muhammad Saeed Quraishy said that the purpose of providing laptops is to enhance your mental and creative abilities through their positive use. Don’t just keep it, but put it to good use.
While addressing the gathering, Dr. Javed Memon, Regional Director Higher Education Commission Sindh, stated that the laptop scheme is a helpful aid for students in acquiring education in accordance with the demands of the 21st century. The distribution process is being carried out on merit. HEC’s Coordinator for Prime Minister’s Laptop Scheme, Manzoor Ali, mentioned that in the third phase of the scheme, one lac laptops are being distributed by the government. While in this phase, 16,939 laptops are part of Sindh Province, and the distribution process is ongoing.
Professor Naseem Ahmed Sheikh, the Special Focal Person for Prime Minister’s Laptop Scheme at Dow University, stated that the distribution of laptops is, in fact, for community service and research. By entrusting laptops to students on the government’s behalf, we believe they will not only serve as career-building tools but also as helpful assistants. Registrar Dr. Ashar Afaq expressed gratitude on behalf of Dow University to HEC for selecting them as the first university for the distribution of laptops in Karachi. He also extended thanks to all individuals involved in playing their roles in the laptop scheme. On this occasion, students from various colleges, institutes, and affiliated institutions of Dow University were awarded laptops based on merit.
