President Dr. Arif Alvi rejected the advice of the Prime Minister to remove the Governor of Punjab.
Rejecting the summary of removal of the Governor of Punjab, the President said that the Governor of Punjab could not be removed without the approval of the President of Pakistan.
Arif Alvi said that there was no charge of mismanagement against the governor and he was not punished by any court. The governor of Punjab did not do anything against the constitution and he could not be removed.
He said that it was the duty of the President to represent the unity of Pakistan in accordance with Article 41 of the Constitution.
The President said that the Governor of Punjab had sent a report on the unfortunate incidents in the Punjab Assembly. He had also sent a report on the resignation of the Chief Minister of Punjab and change of allegiances. It will be against the rules.
President Arif Alvi said that Article 63A discourages activities such as buying members of the Assembly. In this difficult time, I am determined to uphold the principles of the Constitution of Pakistan.
The President said that he rejects the advice of the Prime Minister to remove the Governor of Punjab.
