Karachi :  “Legacy in Watercolour… A Master Artist’s Exhibition” was organized at Ocean Art Gallery, Karachi, and inaugurated by Muhammad Ahmed Shah, President of the Arts Council of Pakistan Karachi. The exhibition was curated by renowned artist Samina Mumtaz and featured masterpieces by 19 artists from various cities across Pakistan, including Samina Mumtaz, Ali Abbas Syed, Muazzam Ali, Ghalib Baqar, G. N. Qazi, Hajra Mansoor, Saima Umar, Momin Khan, Farrukh Naseem, Azra Wahab, Shan Raza Amrohvi, S. M. Naqvi, Owais Ahmed Syeda, Nadia Raza, Ashfaq Ali, Fasih Farooq, Sohaniya Elia, Arusha Javed, and Mushtaq Ali Lashari.
The participating artists skillfully used watercolors to create artworks portraying themes such as horse riding, feminine beauty, the historic buildings of Lahore, and the ancient tombs of Chaukhandi graveyard. Prominent personalities associated with fine arts also attended the exhibition.
Speaking on the occasion, Muhammad Ahmed Shah said that while commercial work is common, Ocean Art Gallery is doing remarkable work for the promotion of art. He praised the exhibition for showcasing outstanding pieces, especially masterpieces created through the use of watercolors.
He added that the exhibition featured works by some of the country’s most prominent painters and that artists from all over Pakistan participated. He expressed gratitude to Ocean Art Gallery for honoring him with the opportunity to inaugurate the exhibition and emphasized the Arts Council’s goal of promoting the work of emerging artists.
“The gallery, the Arts Council, and artists together form a triangle that works for the growth of artists,” he said. Muhammad Ahmed Shah further highlighted that students from the Arts Council’s art school have earned recognition nationally and internationally. However, the work of talented students from areas like Lyari and Lalu Khait is not easily accessible. He noted that the works of Arts Council students are exhibited in major galleries across Pakistan. “Our goal is to pave the way for anyone with a desire to learn and excel in art,” he added.
