President of Pakistan Asif Ali Zardari’s personal physician, Dr. Asim Hussain, has strongly denied rumors circulating about the president’s health condition.

Speaking at a press conference held at Ziauddin Hospital Clifton on Saturday, Dr. Asim dismissed the reports and images being circulated on social media and Indian news channels as “fake and misleading.”

According to Dr. Asim, President Zardari’s condition has improved significantly and he is expected to be discharged from the hospital within a day or two.

“I regret that baseless news regarding the president’s health is being spread by Indian media and social platforms,” Dr. Asim stated. “President Zardari was in Nawabshah last Saturday after traveling from Islamabad. He called me on Eid day saying he was feeling unwell.”

Dr. Asim further explained that the president later reported chills and fever. Due to limited medical facilities in Nawabshah, Dr. Asim traveled there that night and arranged for the president to be transferred to Karachi on Monday, where he was admitted to the hospital and underwent medical tests.

“The tests confirmed that President Zardari had contracted COVID-19,” Dr. Asim revealed. “Thankfully, his condition is much better now. A senior team of doctors is monitoring him, and he should be discharged soon.”

He emphasized that COVID-19 still exists in Pakistan, although antiviral medications are now available. Dr. Asim also addressed misinformation being spread, saying, “The president has high blood pressure and diabetes, but there is no reason for panic. Political opponents may say what they want, and India is already our adversary — but this kind of propaganda is inappropriate.”

When asked about the authenticity of video footage circulating online, Dr. Asim responded, “Whether or not the president releases any hospital footage is his political decision. All the clips on social media are fake.”

Dr. Asim concluded by urging the public not to believe in unverified information and assured that President Zardari is receiving the best medical care.
