KARACHI – Deputy Inspector General Police Karachi East Saqib Ismail Memon said that due to lack of manpower police was facing difficulties to curb street crime in the city. He was addressing a meeting held at Korangi Association of Trade & Industry (KATI) here on Wednesday. President KATI Saleem-uz-Zaman, Chairman and CEO KITE Zubair Chhaya, Head of KATI’s standing committee on Law & Order Danish Khan and others also addressed the occasion.
President of KATI Saleem-uz-Zaman said that KATI always focused on an effective coordination with police and other law enforcement agencies, this is the reason that law & order situation was quite better in Korangi Industrial area, even in the tuff times of the city. “However, street crime is still one of the biggest challenge which should be addressed on the priority” he added. Chairman and CEO KITE Zubair Chhaya said that separation of investigation and operations in police wasn’t prove effective module in Karachi, it should be restored on the previous system. He mention that some of the miscreant elements are conspiring to deprive of Pakistan from GSP status, against such elements the business community fully support our police and LEAs. Head of KATI’s standing committee on law & order Danish Khan said that Karachi needs safe city project more than any city in the country. He also urged that increasing manpower and use of technology can be key to the many challenges regarding law and order in the city.
DIG East Karachi Saqib Ismail Memon was of view that due to lack of manpower police was facing difficulties to curb street crimes however the force is trying its best under the given circumstances. He said that with the available resources police has been improving investigation and we already had started use of technology to curb and trace the crime. In the meeting law and order situation in Korangi Industrial area was also discussed.
