Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has instructed the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) to implement urgent measures to protect lives and property in response to heavy rains affecting the country. In a statement, Shehbaz Sharif emphasized the need for coordinated efforts across all levels of government, including the four provinces, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan.
Sharif directed the NDMA to support regional governments in managing the emergency, focusing on effective drainage systems and public assistance. He urged the Islamabad administration to ensure proper water drainage and facilitate the public, stressing the importance of timely evacuations from flood-prone areas.
The Prime Minister also highlighted the need for continuous monitoring of the situation and the provision of essential resources, including water pumps and other machinery. Additionally, he called for prompt medical treatment for those affected by the adverse weather conditions. These measures are intended to mitigate the impact of the torrential rains and safeguard the well-being of the affected populations.
