Karachi : It was a great day for swimming, as the 26th Palmolive Sindh Women’s Championship 2018 opened with a record number of participants from different schools, clubs and institutions. The spectacular performances of the young female participants met with enthusiastic cheering as they swam their best, breaking record after record in the various age groups.
The wife of the Convener of the Karachi Club Swimming Pool, Mrs. Hajra Imran, was the Chief Guest at the Opening Ceremony and presented medals to the winners of day 1 of the Swimming Championship.
Organized by Karachi Women’s Swimming Association (KWSA), this year marks the 26th year of the competition. As the principal sponsor, Colgate-Palmolive (Pakistan) Ltd. takes great pride in playing an active and unwavering role in supporting this prestigious competition, year on year.

An amazing 8 records have been broken by talented Pakistani female swimmers on the opening day of this prestigious two-day championship.

- Age 15-16 years 200M Freestyle: Zaha Shaikh, Karachi American School, New Time: 2:28:58. Previous time was set at 2:34:66.
- Age 15-16 years 100M Freestyle: Zaha Shaikh, Karachi American School, New Time: 1:07:70. Previous time was set at 1:08:31.
5 Records Broken in Age Group 13-14 years:
- Age 13-14 years 100M Medley Relay: Karachi Grammar School, New Time: 5:22:13. Previous time was set at 5:33:43.
- Age 13-14 years 100M Backstroke: Aminah Alavi, Karachi Grammar School, New Time: 1:12:98. Previous time was set at 1:13:64.
- Age 13-14 years 50M Backstroke (in the heats): Arisha Lari, Karachi American School, New Time: 33:06 Previous time was set at 34:42.

An Awards Ceremony followed in the evening on the first day. The second (and last) day of the event will take place on Sunday, 14th October, 2018.
